From a young age, I have been driven by a thirst for knowledge and a commitment to excellence. After leaving school, I embarked on a challenging yet rewarding journey as an Indentured Journalist. In 1969, my life took a transformative turn when I was Initiated into the Harmonic Lodge 6783 in Guildford. Becoming a Primo in 1971, I quickly found my place within the GuildfordPGL, progressing through the Minor Collars until reaching the esteemed position of PGP in 1977 and Trustee in 1979.
During this period, I also delved into the world of engineering, beginning with mechanical engineering and later embracing the emerging field of electrical engineering as microprocessors became mainstream in the mid 70s.
I attended my first Convention in the Isle of Man in 1973. This experience ignited a fervent commitment to Grand Lodge events, culminating in my compliant membership in Grand Lodge in 1978. Honoured to be raised as a Knight in 1975, I felt a profound sense of pride when I was entered on the Roll of Honour in 1981 and elected as Grand Chamberlain in 1982.
Academically, I pursued aB.A. with the Open University, driven by a desire for continuous learning. Thisjourney led me to complete a B.Ed. at Winchester and to begin teaching Design and Engineering two years later. As Head of Faculty in education and Senior Examiner for various Examination Boards, I felt my influence extended beyond the classroom, shaping the minds and futures of countless students.
Despite my professional achievements, it is my family thatremains the heart ofmy world. A parent of four and grandparent of eight, I cherish the moments spent with my loved ones Fourteen years ago, a move to the Northeast brought new beginnings, and I joined the Meeting ofthe Waters 9026 and NNED Province, eventually becoming Provincial Grand Trustee. Even afterrelocating to Cumbria and spending time in Dumfries and Galloway, I maintained strong ties with both Provinces. I am proud to have recently become involved inCarlisle with The Currock Lodge 4318.
An avid sports enthusiast, my life has been enriched by rugby, football, and long-distance running. As Chairman ofa Senior non-league Football Club for over 25 years and former Chairman of a Rugby Super League Team Supporters Club. Supporting my children and now my grandchildren in their athletic pursuits, which often involves travelling a 700 mile return trip to cheer on my granddaughters & #39; women & #39;s rugby team, brings immense joy and pride.
With 56 years of compliant membership, I look back on a life filled with remarkable experiences and deep fulfilment in both my Buffalo and personal life. The gratitude I feel for the Orders impact on my journey drives my continued dedication to serving it as Grand Primo with humility and passion.
